I started diving in 1960. I bought
my first set of scuba diving equipment from John Cronin, then working
for Goldstock's Sporting Goods in Schenectady, New York. We did
our diving in Lake George, New York, learning from a book. I got
certified in 1968 after taking classes from Robert Clark, Founder
and President of SSI. I went to Ed Brawley's Instructor College in Monterey, CA in 1970. I had already been workiing for Midwest Diver's Supply owned by Robert Clark in Fort Collins since 1968. After graduating from Instructor College, I started teaching through-out Colorado and Nebraska. I opened the Lakewood store for Midwest Diver's Supply, now called Rocky Mountain Diving Center for Robert Clark in 1971. I bought Midwest Diver's from Robert Clark in 1975, and changed it's name to Rocky Mountain Diving Center, Ltd. I sold it to my partner in 1986. |

Shawn Dive Control Specialist, Sales 303-232-2400 Contact Us |
Hello, my name is Shawn Archuleta.
I have been affiliated with Rocky Mountain Diving Center since
1997 when I started my open water classes. I completed my open
waters and became a service technician and sales person for the
store as I started my Dive Control Specialist for RMDC. I have
been working as a Dive Control Specialist since 1999 and enjoy
my work with all the classes I instruct and assist in teachning. My position offers many challenges and opportunities to discover new diving techniques and meet new people. I teach Snorkeling classes, Scuba introductions, Underwater photography, and assist with pool and lecture classes as well as open water. I hope to start my Instructor classes and become and Open water instructor at a later date. Since I've been diving I have only found it a joy and pleasure. It has given me an opportunity to grow in a field I enjoy and to continue my education. |

Jeff Instructor 303-232-2400 Contact Us |
Hello, I'm Jeff McDowell one of
the Instructors at RMDC. After being an open water student with
RMDC in 1994, I found that through continuing education with the
Scuba Schools International program I earned my instructor's certification.
I now have the privilege of introducing scuba diving and all the
benefits to others. My passion since 1994 is underwater photography. I have attended several underwater photography classes with world-renowned instructors Marty Snyderman, Steve Simonsen and the late Jim Church. I have been very lucky to also have a couple of my pictures published in the dive magazines. My diving career has taken me throughout the Carribbean, the Britich Virgin Islands and the Pacific with places like YAP, Paula, Papua New Guinea and Hawaiian Islands. So come on down to RMDC and let us help you with advancing your diving skills from Underwater Navigation to several other specialty courses. You will find that out crew is pleasant and very knowledgeable with any question you may have about equipment to great diving destinations. |

When I graduated from college my
father enrolled me in an Open water certification class for a graduation
gift. I soon realized that Scuba diving is a lifelong sport that
I wanted to integrate into my life as much as possible. In college I studied digital media, and now I needed to tie my degree and my interest in Scuba diving and try to make this a profession. I started researching dive stores here in the Denver metro area, and realized that the owner of RMDC could teach me about underwater photography having many years experience in underwater photography. Here was my way of tying my degree into my passion for diving. So with that in mind I walked into RMDC and asked to speak to Mark. I explained that I was interested in the sport on a professional level. My experiences in digital media could present a new look for RMDC. I enjoy my position at RMDC for a number of reasons. I am well on my way to a lifetime of diving experience. Thank you for visiting our site, and getting to know our crew a little better. ;-) |

When I first put on a tank and took my first couple
of breaths underwater, I never dreamt that I would be working at
that very shop. Never having been to the ocean before diving I
could only imagine what it would be like. Now I have a dream job. I get to work with great people and talk to even greater customers.Traveling to great destinations and seeing the underwater world is part of a hard days work. As a trained regulator technician, and helping to sell equipment I get to see all sides of the business. There is nothing better in the world than helping people discover and enjoy the underwater world. |

Mark Stephenson Owner, Instructor 303-232-2400 Contact Us |
Hello, I’m Mark Stephenson the new owner of RMDC. I find myself the proud owner of the RMDC after scuba diving in the Caribbean.
After growing up in Indiana and Illinois and swimming throughout the summers, scuba diving was the next step into an adventure of the aquatic world. I moved to Colorado in 1979. My first scuba diving class was at RMDC back in 1980. After being certified to dive; I would go diving at the local lakes and Florida. I started taking additional classes with RMDC and became an instructor in May 1983. I bought my first underwater camera in 1985 and started taking pictures of the wonderful reefs and animals in the ocean. I was looking for ways to improve my pictures. I found Cathy Church’s School of Underwater Photography at Sunset House on Grand Cayman. After spending a week with Cathy and crew; it was decided to return the next year for another week of photography classes. In January 1996, I moved to Grand Cayman to work with Cathy Church at Sunset Photo. I worked with Cathy for three years. After leaving Grand Cayman, I spent an additional two and half years as a Photo Pro / Dive Master for the Aggressor Fleet. My training was on the Cayman Aggressor III and then off to the Bay Island Aggressor III. When the Bay Island Aggressor III was dry docked at Morgan City LA, I transferred to the Okeanos Aggressor, off the coast of Costa Rica to Coco Island. After two years on the Okeanos Aggressor, I found myself back in Colorado. I had the opportunely to purchase RMDC in April 2002. After acquiring RMDC I started to revitalize the store. With the updated information and new shopping cart on the web site, throughout the showroom, into the depths of the pool as well as our educational program. Please stop by for a visit. |
